Year-Over-Year Membership Declines for U.S. Medicaid Market

• As of March 31, 2024 (1Q24), total Medicaid enrollment included over 81.1 million Americans, representing a year-over-year (YOY) decrease of nearly 11.1 million (M) enrollees (12%) since the same time last year (1Q23).
• With the largest Medicaid presence in the nation by a significant margin, California accounted for over 681,000 (K) dropped enrollees, or about 4.6% of its enrollment.
• New York Medicaid membership fell by 8.8%, representing a YOY loss of nearly 618K covered lives.
• Florida Medicaid enrollment dropped by nearly 960K members YOY (19.5%).
• Texas saw the single largest YOY exodus of Medicaid enrollees, with over 1.8M (32.6%) removed from coverage.
